Pharaoh ants also reproduce quickly, which makes them a major nuisance in homes and businesses. Their small size also means they can easily get into food sources and other areas that are difficult to clean. Additionally, Pharaoh ants are known for carrying disease-causing bacteria and can spread germs and other diseases throughout buildings.

Diet, Behavior & Habits of  Pharaoh Ant:

Despite being very clever, the Pharaoh ants are very clever, because they can take advantage by the help of artificial heating systems in buildings in order to survive the winter. Their infestations generally occur in food service areas. They will nest in warm areas like lawns and gardens and in well-protected, hidden areas. Pharaoh ants eat other insects as well eat all types of food, but especially sweets.

Reproduction:

As with other ants, the Egyptian Pharaoh ants has a casual reproduction system, they grow from egg stage to adult stage almost within a 38 day period. A female ant should have a lifespan of between 4 and 12 months, whereas workers should have a lifespan of 8 to 10 weeks.

Signs of Infestation:

Small amber-colored workers are the best sign of their infestations as they forage along surfaces. Pharaoh ants have a classical chemistry, they have multiple queens and when they are disturbed they move from place to place to move their colonies. Workers grow from eggs to adults in 38 days and may live approximately for nine to 10 weeks. Queen Pharaoh ants are healthy than other Pharaoh ants and can live approximately for four to 12 months, but not male Pharaoh ants as they die within three to five weeks of mating. Pharaoh ants make their new colonies by budding. Budding means that a small strength of workers and a single queen migrate another place from their old colony to start a new colony.

As ant colonies become more numerous, pharaoh ants can become a nuisance if they are not controlled. Hence, in such a situation, a control of Pharaoh ants is necessary because they build their nests in walls, voids in cabinet voids, baseboards, insulation pipes in refrigerators, the hollow rods of curtains, the folding of clothing, and other undisturbed dark places where they cannot be seen.
